Here’s how we chose the best multivita-mans (haha) for this list.
Ingredients men need
Lots of people get all the nutrients they need from their diet. The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for some vitamins (like vitamin A, C, K, and some B vitamins) is higher for men than women, so it might be harder to get enough of them from food alone.
Additionally, people with diseases that interfere with nutrient absorption (like Crohn’s, Celiac, IBS, and cystic fibrosis), high alcohol intake, or who take certain medications (like proton pump inhibitors, NSAIDs, certain blood pressure and cholesterol-reducing medications, type 2 diabetes medications, SSRIs, and corticosteroids) are more likely to have nutrient deficiencies.
Here are some nutrients commonly found in multivitamins:
Vitamin or mineral | What it does | Who’s deficient? |
vitamin A | This guy is v important for immune, reproductive, eye, skin, heart, and lung health. | Vitamin A deficiency is pretty rare, but people with malabsorption disorders are most likely to be deficient. |
vitamin C | A crowd favorite, vit C is an antioxidant that supports immune health and collagen production. | People who smoke, are exposed to secondhand smoke, or have cancer or malabsorption disorders are more likely to have a vitamin C deficiency. |
vitamin K | Abundant in leafy greens, vitamin K helps make proteins needed for blood clotting and bone health. | This is another vitamin where deficiency isn’t very common unless you have a malabsorption disorder. |
B vitamins | All of these are important for the growth, development, and function of your cells. They also help convert food into energy. | Most vitamin B deficiencies are rare, though vegans, vegetarians, and older adults are more likely to have a vitamin B12 deficiency. |
vitamin D | The ~sunshine~ vitamin. It helps your body absorb calcium — essential for strong bones. | People who don’t go in the sun often, have dark skin, have obesity, or have had gastric bypass surgery. |
vitamin E | Another antioxidant that helps protect cells from free radical damage, and might play a role in preventing cancer and cardiovascular disease. | Vitamin E deficiency is actually pretty rare unless you have a malabsorption disorder. |
calcium | This mineral helps keep your bones and teeth strong. It also helps regulate blood pressure, blood clotting, muscle function, nerve transmission, and hormonal secretion. | Peeps who avoid dairy products. |
magnesium | This mineral plays a role in protein synthesis, muscle and nerve function, and blood glucose and blood pressure regulation. | Older adults and people with type 2 diabetes. |
potassium | Potassium helps maintain the fluid levels inside of our cells. | People with GI diseases, who take diuretics or laxatives, or who have pica (an eating disorder that makes you crave non-nutritive substances like clay). |
Quality
FYI: Dietary supplements aren’t regulated by the FDA in the same way as prescription drugs. So, finding a quality supplement is v important.
At a minimum, make sure the company manufactures its supplements in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs), which are standards set forth by the FDA to help ensure the identity, purity, strength, and composition of dietary supplements. Some companies get third-party certifications to prove their compliance (even better!).
You can also look for companies that third-party test their products. The gold standard cert is verification from USP.
Mary Wirtz, a registered dietitian at Mom Loves Best, says, “The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) seal of approval [and other third-party testing orgs] ensures that the multivitamin has been third-party tested and doesn’t contain contaminants such as heavy metals or pesticides.”
USP verification also guarantees that a product actually contains what the label says it contains and will break down and release into the body within a certain amount of time.
Other certifications like NSF-certified gluten-free, Non-GMO Project verified, and USDA certified organic prove that a company’s products meet specific standards.
Reasonable nutrient doses
“For certain nutrients, like iron, vitamin D, and vitamin A,” explains Jacob Hascalovici, MD, PhD, and chief medical officer at Clearing, “it’s possible to ingest too much.”
For this reason, Wirtz recommends looking for a multivitamin that contains roughly the Recommended Dietary Allowance for vitamins and minerals. No need for megadoses — but some of the more specialized multivitamins, like those specifically for energy or fertility, do contain high doses of individual nutrients.
Vetted products only
We put every product we considered through a thorough vetting process that checks for unsupported health and disease claims, shady business practices, FDA/FTC warning letters, and lawsuits involving a company’s products.
We also made sure that the company is transparent about the ingredients it uses, doesn’t use any illegal ingredients, and provides dosage information.
Only products that passed vetting made this list.

Best overall multivitamin for men’s health
Persona High Potency Multi
- Price: $
- Key nutrients: vitamins A, D, E, K, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B12, chromium, copper, folate, iodine, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, zinc
- Type: capsule
- Count: 28
- Dosage: 1 capsule
- Certifications: GMP-compliant
Persona is a vitamin subscription service that provides personalized vitamin recommendations based on a short assessment of your health concerns, diet, and goals.
This is our “best overall” pick because of how personalized your multivite can be. Not everyone has the same needs or goals, so we’re big fans of customization.
You can either go for the multivitamin on its own or — depending on your assessment results — add on extras for mood, prostate, or immune system support. You can also add on antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients like lycopene (great for sperm health) and turmeric.
There are also hair/nail/skin supplements, adaptogens, probiotics, digestive enzymes, omega 3-s, or sleep supplements that you can add to your routine.
Another cool perk? If you have any questions, you can chat with a nutritionist to get pointers or tips.
Reviewers love the personalization and say the customer support is on point. They also love having access to nutritionists if they have any questions. The biggest downside is the price — adding on multiple supplements can get expensive quickly.
Pros
- can add on personalized vitamin recommendations
- convenient subscription
- manufactured in a GMP-compliant facility
- vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, major allergen-free
Cons
- not third-party tested
- expensive
Best multivitamin for men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s

- Price: $$
- Key nutrients: vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, folate, vitamin B12, magnesium, zinc, boron, omega-3s, vitamin K
- Type: capsule
- Count: 60
- Dosage: 2 capsules per day

These men’s vites from Ritual are VIBIN’. The company really cuts the nonsense, too, containing just 10 super-targeted ingredients that men may need a little bit more of in their diets, like vitamin A, vitamin D, and vitamin B12.
We appreciate that the brand uses bioavailable nutrients forms like methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (folate). We also love that the capsule contains omega-3s, which are fatty acids that help boost heart and brain health.
Ritual makes it extra easy by offering a monthly subscription, so you’ll never run out of your vites. You can cancel whenever too.
This multi has received rave reviews from lots of people (including a Greatist editor’s boo-thang), but the minty-freshness seems to be hit or miss — some love it and some HATE it.
Pros
- wet and dry nutrients in one capsule
- contains bioavailable nutrient forms
- convenient monthly subscription
- manufactured in a GMP-compliant facility and third-party tested
- vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, major allergen-free

- contains fewer nutrients than most multivitamins
Best multivitamin for men over 50
Ritual Essential for Men Multivitamin 50+

- Type: capsule
- Count: 60

This dad-approved (literally — a Greatist editor’s dad is a BIG fan) multi from Ritual has all the same ingredients as the 18+ vite for men we mentioned above, along with some extras that the salt-and-peppers might appreciate — like an extra boost of vitamin D for immune support and folate and B12 for energy.
The delayed-release capsule makes it easy on the stomach, and it’s not pretty just to be pretty — the beadlets in the oil cut down on the number of pills you’d otherwise need to take.
As with the other Ritual vite that made the list, people are pretty torn about the mint flavor — but overall they’re still really satisfied with the vitamin.
Pros
- wet and dry nutrients in one capsule
- contains bioavailable nutrient forms
- convenient monthly subscription
- manufactured in a GMP-compliant facility and third-party tested
- vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, major allergen-free

- Certifications: organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, kosher
Not only is this mykind Organics vitamin loaded with vitamins from whole-food sources like mushroom, cherry, blueberry, garlic, and parsley (among MANY others), but it’s also certified organic — so it’s a great option if you want something made with organic whole-food ingredients.
The list of certs doesn’t stop there, though. It’s also certified gluten-free, vegan, kosher, and non-GMO. That’s A LOT of certifications, so you can feel good that you’re actually getting what the brand says you’re getting.
In addition to the nutrients you’d expect to see in a multivitamin, it’s got some selenium to support prostate health. AND a full daily dose is just 1 tablet — a rarity!
Reviewers love it, but some say the glass bottle is surprisingly large and bulky for holding just 60 tablets.
Pros

- sourced from whole-food ingredients
- manufactured a GMP-compliant facility and third-party tested
- certified organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, kosher
- dairy-free, soy-free

Wait, a fermented vitamin? Yup! Just like fermented foods, fermented nutrients (from whole-food sources) may be easier to digest and absorb. Plus, this one’s got some nootropic (brain-boosting) benefits from organic ashwagandha, plus cordyceps and reishi mushrooms to help you relax, adapt, and focus.
Reviewers really like this multi and say they can feel the diff when taking it consistently AND that it’s really easy on the stomach.

- Type: capsule
- Count: 30 servings
- Dosage: 4 capsules (1 pack) per day
- Certifications: GMP-certified
Libido, fertility, prostate health, sperm quality… if it has anything to do with the unit and the accessories, this multivitamin — developed by a urologist and a male fertility dietitian — was made for it.
Research shows that omega-3s like DHA and antioxidants like selenium, vitamin C, vitamin E, lycopene, and coenzyme Q10 help fight oxidative stress, which seems to help improve semen quality and sperm motility.
This “prenatal for him” is suuuuper high in those antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, lycopene, selenium, and CoQ10) to protect your swimmers. As a bonus, it may help with ED and give your libido a little boost.
Reviewers love the convenience of the daily packet, and the reviews are full of husbands and male partners who want to be proactive and supportive of a female partner on an IVF journey. 🥺
Pros
- targeted for fertility and sexual health
- manufactured in a GMP-certified facility and third-party tested
- vegan, gluten-free, major allergen-free
Cons
- doesn’t contain many nutrients common in multivitamins

- Type: powder
- Count: 30 servings

Just don’t forget your pre-workout carbs (for endurance workouts) or post-workout protein (for the sweet gains).
And if you’re just looking for a daily energy boost, you’re covered with the whole range of energy-supporting B vitamins and Eleuthero Root, an adaptogen that can help boost energy too.

- Type: gummy
- Count: 80
- Dosage: 2 gummies per day

NatureMade’s multivitamins for men come personally recommended by Wirtz thanks to their USP verification, affordability, and lack of extremely high, over-the-top doses of any single nutrient.
A bonus is that this gummy form is great for people who don’t like pills. But know that these gummies do contain added sugar for flavor — gotta cover up that fish oil taste!
Reviewers really like the taste, and for many of them, the easy and tasty gummy form is the difference between habitually taking a vitamin daily and not taking one at all.
Pros
- chewable gummy form
- no extremely high dose vitamins
- manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, third-party tested, USP verified
Cons
- contains added sugar
- some nutrients (like vitamin B12) aren’t as bioavailable

Here are some key things to consider before you start poppin’ any pills:
- Health concerns and goals. Hit up a healthcare pro to chat about any specific health concerns and goals you have — and whether you have any gaps in your diet. They can help you figure out if there are any nutrients you def need/don’t need, which can make finding the right vite a lot easier. And though multis aren’t great for super-specific goals, some formulations do contain ingredients that can help with energy, focus, and fertility.
- Quality. Like we discussed earlier, finding a good quality supplement is important — not every brand is worth your money. Look for brands that comply with cGMPs, third-party test their products, and have certain certifications from orgs like USP and NSF.
- Vitamin type and serving size. Since you’re gonna be taking it every day (theoretically), buy one you know you can live with. If you hate swallowing pills, don’t get the vitamin pack with 5 pills a day — there are def other options, like gummies, powders, and even liquid vites.
- Nutrient doses. Reminder: Mega-doses of every single nutrient is just not necessary — it can even become a problem if you take too much iron, vitamin D, and vitamin A. If you’re seeing 1000 percent daily value (DV) for every single nutrient in a vitamin, keep shopping.
- Price. Multivitamins can be as cheap or as expensive as you want them to be, really. To a certain degree, you get what you pay for re: ingredient quality, but NatureMade is consistently one of the least expensive brands and its products are USP-verified. So if you’re on a really tight budget, it’s a great option.
- Ingredients. Organic? Vegan-friendly? Non-GMO? Gluten-free? Make sure your vite fits in with any of your diet restrictions and that you feel good about taking it.
It’s a toss-up, TBH.
“Most men can get the vitamins and minerals they need directly from their food If they’re eating a balanced, comprehensive diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, and lean proteins,” explains Hascalovici.
“If your diet consistently lacks fruits and vegetables, a multivitamin is not out of the question,” Wirtz says.
According to Wirtz and Hascalovici, the following populations may also benefit from popping a multi on the daily:
- older adults
- people with health conditions that affect nutrient absorption, such as celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, or cystic fibrosis
- people who have had weight loss surgery
- vegans and vegetarians
BUT a multi can’t replace a healthy diet, Wirtz warns. It’s made just to help fill in nutritional gaps.
What vitamins are good for men to take daily?
All of them. No, really. There are no magic men’s nutrients, but it’s really important to get enough of all of them.
Additionally, some antioxidants (like lycopene to support urinary health) and plant-based ingredients (like adaptogenic mushrooms for focus) may be useful for men, but they’re not essentials by any means.
Do vitamins really help men?
Yes, they do — if you’re low on one or more nutrients. You’re probably not gonna feel like ~a whole new person~ just from adding a multi to your routine, but you can rest assured that you’re getting what you need, even if your diet isn’t 100 percent on point.
Are multivitamins good for male fertility and sperm count?
If you’re not consistently getting all the nutrients you need, then yes, a multivitamin is definitely worth it and may help optimize your health so you can maximize your fertility and sperm quality. In MMO terms, you can only craft from what’s already in your inventory.
Is it good to take a multivitamin every day?
If you’re gonna take one, then yes, try to be consistent and take it daily to get the most benefit. But it’s no biggie if you miss a day or 2 or every once in a while, and it’s unlikely that you’ll notice a difference in how you feel after missing a day or so.
When is the best time to take a multivitamin?
Most people say that a multi goes down best with a meal or snack — especially if it contains iron. (Iron on an empty stomach may cause nausea.)
Otherwise, take it whenever is most convenient for you — morning, night, or in between.
Can I get the same nutrients from my diet?
Definitely! But for some people it can be tougher. For instance, if you’re a vegan who hates the taste of nutritional yeast, it may be easier to pop a multi to meet your vitamin B12 needs.
And, as Wirtz reminds us, some people may need a multi to get what they need as a result of bariatric surgery, a malabsorption disorder, or aging.
When in doubt, speak with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian. Most won’t keep you from taking a multi if you really want to, but if you’re on the fence, they can help you decide whether you’ll truly benefit from one.
Men’s multis are made with the unique needs of men in mind, but it’s important to do some research before grabbing one off the shelf or clicking “Add to cart.”
Make sure you look for one that’s made with scientifically proven ingredients in appropriate doses, and that it has been third-party tested or that the manufacturer is CGMP certified. And if you’re on the fence about needing a multi at all, talk with a healthcare pro or a dietitian.
Our process and why you should trust us
This article was written by a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). We also consulted two more nutrition experts to get tips for choosing the best multivitamins for men. We used those tips to pick the products on our list.
Before writing about those products, we put them all through a thorough vetting process that checks for unsupported health and disease claims, shady business practices, FDA/FTC warning letters, and lawsuits involving a company’s products. We also made sure each company is transparent about the ingredients it uses, doesn’t use any illegal ingredients, and provides dosage information. Only products that passed vetting made this list.
After wrapping up our recommendations and tips, we sent this entire article to a fourth medical professional (in this case, Grant Tinsley, PhD) for review.
So basically, you can feel good knowing that we put in the WORK to get you these recommendations.
